The past few days I’ve been enjoying reading Rakesh Khurana’s new book, From Higher Aims to Hired Hands: The Social Transformation of American Business Schools and the Unfulfilled Promise of Management as a Profession. It’s a fascinating book about the history of management training in business schools as viewed through the lens of an organizational theorist. Think Starr meets Abbott crossed with Scott. I’m sure I’ll have much more to write about the book later. Until then check out the summary (and the ensuing discussion) at Harvard’s Working Knowledge website.
