1. The New Republic and Rolling Stone on Obama’s ipod. TNR is critical, but they’re seeing it from a John Cusack perspective. Obama’s soundtrack is Love Jones all the way. Bird, Trane, and a lot of Stevie Wonder. Love Jones, baby.

2. People still haven’t gotten it about the Dean/Obama strategy. Post-60’s presidential politics was about strong geographic boundaries. Ruling from the South or the Coasts. By making strong plays in the other side’s states, Obama increases his power in subtle ways. He may not ever come close in West Virginia, but by building organization in those states, his party may have a block of voters who can impact referenda, or increase the Dem’s majority in Congress. That, of course, is the key to winning the states two or three cycles down the line.

3. Obama playing basketball (also very Love Jones): in Hawaii as a high school player; he makes a 3 pointer in South Carolina, coldbeating a bunch of high schoolers in Indiana.
