dude, i just understood heidegger!
Ever felt continental philosophy would make sense if someone would just explain it in clear, simple English? If so, these youtube clips are for you! Hubert Dreyfus, philosopher from UC Berkeley, in a great 1980 interview clearly tells you all you need to know about Heidegger.
Now my hamsters can have their way with that old copy of Being and Time.

Dreyfus is a treasure. His and Rabinow’s book on Foucault, “Beyond Structuralism and Hermeneutics”, made me say outloud “Umm, did I just understand Foucault?”

Excellent.
[And, a side note on "being" --- I have a hypothesis that Hubert Dreyfus and Chuck Norris actually were one and the same person (watch the video closely and compare to old Chuck Norris pictures). However, Dreyfus-Norris has since chosen to separate itself into two possibilities, and only one is authentically "being in itself."]

Oh yeah, well if you can understand Bourdieu’s, “The Political Ontology of Martin Heidegger” then I’ll be REALLY impressed.

TF: Did you see the part about how Norris does not separate the object of @$$ kicking from the subject of @$$ kicking? How the fist and Norris are a seamless whole?

Dude: I just understood Chuck Norris!
His round-house kick is a zen koan translated into western philosophy. Walker, Texas Ranger was his thesis.
