question to Prof. Rojas: what are your thoughts now on the relationship between Foucault and Weber’s ideas? Do you still they think they are in tension or that their ideas have mutual affinities, per your students’ suggestion?
When I first learned Foucault for the first time, I got some vague ticklings in my brain that there was some link between Foucault and Weber. I think much of that feeling has to do (in my mind) with how both of them talk about authority and power without explicit coercion (authority vs. governmentality, or authority/governmentality)

Andy: I’m still collecting my thoughts on the topic, but (today) perhaps I am leaning toward the view that Foucault are addressing different processes. Your comment deserves a lengthy answer, that I am still working on.
