I think that Tilden will take the nomination, but we have not seen the last of Blaine. McKinley seems to be building credibility; watch him for a future round. On the other hand, we are often distracted by perennial candidates such as John Sherman and William Jennings Bryan.
What is really interesting is the thin reporting on the many elections of board chairs of Fortune 1000 companies. The only power struggle comparable right now in the news (distant fifth, with no 2nd, 3rd, 4th) is the proxy war at Cato.
It might be revealing to see who and how many among the readers is actually registered to vote, has voted in an election other than for President of the United States, or has held elected public office.

I was intending to vote Greenback, but then they went and nominated Newt Booth for VP. Got rip-roaring drunk last night, woke up with a hangover, and briefly considered voting for Green Smith and the Prohibition boys. Then I saw Michael’s post and realized that there really was no alternative to Tilden. When I got in the booth, however, I couldn’t pull the lever for a guy who once had a bromance with Boss Tweed. In the end, yep, you guessed it, straight Anti-Masonic Party. Sure, there aren’t many of us left, but, hey, we still want to know, “who killed William Morgan?”
