party in the street: the movie

Michael Heaney (left) and director Melody Weinstein (right) interview activist Johanna Berrigan.

One of the pleasures of academia is knowing people like Michael Heaney. Aside from working with me on our academic research about the anti Iraq war movement, Michael is now working on a film about the movement. He’s teamed up with journalist and film maker Melody Weinstein to start documenting the antiwar activists.

Working title? Party in the Street: The Antiwar Movement and the 2008 Election. For a full explanation of the title, watch the interview clip or check out our paper in American Politics Research. Here’s the Inside Higher Ed article on the Party in the Street concept. It’s about how the movement asserts itself through party politics. Here, William Hughes interviews Melody and Michael. Here’s Melody’s blog. Here is Melody’s website. For previous blog posts on our antiwar research, click here.
