Some of you still don’t have an iphone. You know who you are. Why do you resist? (And please don’t say anything about the lack of a key board, cost, etc.)
So, here are ten more reasons for why you need an iphone:

- Stanza — free ebooks and classics via gutenberg etc.
- ok, so, there are dozens of additional reasons (free podcasts, iTunesU, etc).

This site’s been 50-60% astroturf for a good six months. Going 100% this weekend with facebook/FT/EubankNature(tm)/iphone/cody was quite brazen, but you seem to have tipped your hand a little too much.

The iPhone is the only Apple toy I don’t own. Take out the damned phone and I might buy one. Even a plain vanilla mobile phone is a tool of subjugation — shackles for the 21st century.

Why not?
It is a cute gadget, but…
1. Cost is still an issue: a minimum of annual expense of close to $1000 (I’d rather travel) + $200 to $300 for the device.
2. You cannot swap SIM cards (which matters when you travel abroad) and you are stuck with AT&T.
3. I hate the touch screen keyboard.
4. I agree with REW: I don’t like ‘smart phones’ — I already have too much access to the internet as it is.

Cost, primarily. My half of the current monthly cell phone bill is about $27. I can’t justify a 200% increase each month in order to check my e-mail and browse the web from anywhere in the country.

iPhone is cute. When Apple decides to let people use their technology/products without binding them as customers, I might buy one. Setting aside the fact that you must have a 2 year contract, the price of the contract is an issue in itself.

I am actually amazed that sociologists of all people are willing to fork out this much money for a cell phone. I travel a lot, so my Sony Ericsson ($200, with internet capabilities, MP3 player, FM radio, and a great camera) is an unlocked quad-band, so I can buy local SIM cards everywhere I go. I use T-Mobile prepaid, and only spend about $20 a month most of the time. Sure, it’d be nice to have internet access on my phone, but I’m not willing to pay so much extra for it.
