Thank you for this list. My donation to Doctors Without Borders has been prompted by this.
You can also make a donation through the Clinton Foundation:
“Donate online at http://www.clintonfoundation.org/haitirelief to help provide immediate relief and long-term support to earthquake survivors. Text “HAITI” to 20222 and $10 will be donated to relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.”

I read this morning that the Red Cross has already received more than a million dollars through those text messages.
Mercy Corps is also taking donations through Amazon’s website, which makes donating particularly easy for people with accounts there.

Here’s Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti organization:
Text “Yele” to 501501 which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill). Here’s the website: http://www.yele.org/

One or two of these is likely far more effective than some others. Any idea which is best?

Partners in Health is Paul Farmer’s outfit, and they have a long record of doing good work in Haiti.

Michael: Since we like ratings and rankings around here —- here’s one of charities (including the above):

I second the recommendation for Partners in Health. I went through the orgs I recognized on Charity Navigator, and it’s the highest rated, with 95% of its funds going to programs:
http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4884
There’s also an Op-Ed in today’s NY Times that singles it out:

I’m going with Partner’s in Health.
Also, Tyler Cowen recommends political action that will help Haitians in the U.S. help their friends and families at home: http://www.marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2010/01/how-to-help-haiti.html
