editors are people too
The Review Review has a piece by Don Lee — editor of Ploughshares for nineteen years — titled “Editors Do Not Hate You, But They Have Every Reason To.” Lee talks about all the abuse that editors have to put up with (there are some doozies in there), about the excitement that editors feel when discovering a new writer, how do deal with rejection, etc.
Hey, thanks for visiting our site! And I agree–the essay by Don Lee is wonderful, and shocking!

Great catch, Teppo. It’s really eerie how much this commentary from a literary journal editor fits with the experience of social science journal editing.
