Yes – and if anyone is focused, it’s Bootsy.

I saw him “play” the Apollo 2 months ago. Dude (or roadies) screwed up his bass link into the amp and so he “had to” air guitar his way through two songs. = not focused.

Jenn, if you think you need “sound” to make “music,” you are sorely mistaken.

@JL: Oh, come on, can a brother get a break up in this Org Theory? Comparing Bootsy circa 2011 to J.B.’s-, P-Funk-, or Rubber Band-era Bootsy is just unfair. None of us is getting younger and few of us is getting any better. Bootsy was Player Of The Year in 1978. Nuff said.

@ahhthenameis: Concur – one year of Bootsy is equivalent to a lifetime of funk for normal humans.

OMG, do we need a little lesson in careful reading? DID NOT SAY Bootsie wasn’t the awesomesauce. But c’mon now, DUDE IS NOT FOCUSED. I guarantee he’s eaten a guitar pick by accident.

@JL: it’s a cold, cold world baby.

Whenever I’ve seen Bootsy talk about the one, he is always pretty clear that he learned it in the James Brown band who drilled it in them. My guess is he says something about that either right before or after the clip above. Aside from the music, the coolest thing about Bootsy is that he turned his back on JB and quit with no immediate prospects. That is cool. If only we could all muster that occasionally.
So, no, I’m not dissing Bootsy. Nor the occasional use of the blog to promote unrelated or indirectly related content. (I find the attempts to show off our exotic tastes and “coolness” here out of place in the least, but maybe its just me.)
No, I’m just suggesting that coming back to the one on time and regularly is what makes the blog what it is.
