Most scholars and historians would easily admit that he was one of the major intellectual figures of early 20th America whose career included multiple seminal book, the creation of a major civil rights organization, being the first Black PhD at Harvard, and jump starting the discipline of sociology. Yet, inside sociology, many have denied his canonicity and he was shunned in his lifetime. Aldon Morris gives us this fascinating account of DuBois’ work to argue that he’s always belonged at the center of the discipline.
