I liked this group. Happy to hear a jazz harpist since they are so few and far between, even though major figures like Alice Coltrane introduced the instrument to the genre. This band reminds me of a late 60s Max Roach album, “Members Don’t Get Weary.” The soul groove and the trilling sax/trumpet duets are reminiscent of that date. Sean Jones is a great player — I was lucky enough to hear him at the Detroit Jazz fest a few years ago. It also reminds me of Steve Coleman’s M-Base Collective, which was big in the 90s when I was in grad school and pioneered jazz/funk fusion. Enjoy the music you post.
